Build your next bass system around the MTX Audio RFL12 12" competition subwoofer. With 3000W RMS power handling, a substantial motor assembly and a reinforced aluminium frame, the RFL12 brings serious capability to demanding car audio projects.
Drawing on MTX’s history of extreme subwoofers, this heavyweight driver suits dedicated SPL systems and ambitious custom installations. Furthermore, its design is optimised for ported enclosures, providing a foundation for powerful low-frequency output.
3000W RMS Power Handling
At the heart of the MTX RFL12 sits a 4" high-temperature voice coil with a four-layer, copper-clad aluminium flat-wire winding. This construction combines reduced wire weight with electrical conductivity. Meanwhile, the flat-wire profile makes efficient use of the available winding space.
In addition, a dual cooling system for the voice coil helps manage heat during demanding playback. The winding’s insulating coating also withstands temperatures up to 280°C, supporting the subwoofer’s high-power design.
Reinforced Construction and Cone Control
To support its substantial motor and moving assembly, the RFL12 uses a heavy-duty die-cast aluminium frame with 35mm front and rear magnet plates.
Alongside this reinforced structure, the dual Nomex spider assembly helps control cone movement. Its screw-mounted design also supports servicing and precise assembly.
Double red stitching reinforces the cone-to-surround connection. Furthermore, lead wires sewn into the spider move with the assembly during cone travel.
Single 2 Ohm Voice Coil for Amplifier Matching
The single 2 ohm voice coil provides a straightforward load for a single-subwoofer installation. However, your amplifier must deliver appropriate power at 2 ohms to suit the intended system.
For secure connections, the symmetrical terminal blocks accept speaker cables up to 10mm². This means you can use substantial cabling between the amplifier and subwoofer.
